Paul Newman Passes Away
We here at Classic Movies Today are paying tribute to the late great Paul Newman, who passed away Saturday September 27 at the age of 83. Google Newman for the latest wire articles and information, or check these sites:
Entertpauner and Oscar winner, we’ve got a few Newman favorites. Here’s a selected filmography.
The Silver Chalice- Hey, we like Newman’s first movie about the Holy Grail. Good fifties biblical fodder.
The Long Hot Summer- Steamy southern drama future wife Joanne Woodward and legendary Orson Wells.
The Young Philadelphians- Maybe stale today with all our courtroom television dramas, but we like Newman’s lawyer charisma.
Of course, the “H’s” The Hustler, Hombre, Harper, and our favorite Hud.
Maybe he finally won his Best Actor Oscar for The Color of Money, but Newman should have had more, perhaps for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid or The Sting, and by golly why not Slap Shot?!

He was a great actor and will be sadly missed. He had impecable timing and was a natural. Rumour has it that in the film Cool Hand Luke in the scene where he had to eat 50 hard boiled eggs for a bet that he actually ate them all for the camera. Pretty disgusting but, shows how much he was devoted to acting. Out of all the films I have seen Cool Hand Luke is the best. Thanks for writing this blog dedicated to one of the greatest actor’s the world has ever seen.
